About Emergency Dental Care
When a mishap occurs during office hours we can schedule a same-day appointment for you. Additionally, if your emergency occurs when the office has already closed, we will schedule an after-hours appointment.
Is My Problem An Emergency?
If your concern threatens your life, such as in the case of extreme blood loss, you are experiencing a medical emergency and should either call 911 or visit your nearest emergency room. However, a dental-related emergency issue is one from which you cannot treat with over-the-counter solutions or threatens the immediate wellbeing of your tooth or oral health.
How Do I Contact My Corona Dentist?
First, call our dental office to schedule your emergency visit. Next, we encourage you to relax and find a friend or loved one to assist you if you require help driving to our practice. In the meantime, we encourage our patients to follow some simple steps that may improve the success of an emergency visit:
- Gather pieces of a broken tooth. Place them securely in a sealed container or baggie and bring it with you.
- Hold a dislodged tooth under gently running lukewarm water. Rinse it of debris but be careful to avoid removing attached tissue. Carefully see if you can place the tooth back into its socket without using pressure. If not, house the tooth in a sealed container full of milk or salt water and bring it with you.
- Place a cold compress or ice pack on the outside of your face over an area of swelling or discomfort to achieve relief.
- Take over-the-counter medicine for pain relief, such as ibuprofen.
