Dramatically Improve Your Smile
When individual cosmetic dentistry treatments fall short of patient expectations or needs we may suggest porcelain veneers. This treatment can address smiles suffering from a variety of esthetic maladies, rather than one or two concerns. Veneers can improve your smile in as little as two visits.
About Porcelain Veneers
A porcelain veneer is a very thin tooth-shaped shell that we will place over the front of your teeth. It is unlike a dental crown in that it does not cover your entire tooth, but creates the illusion of an improved tooth. Composed of translucent porcelain layers, the veneer is created by an expert ceramicist. Veneers can change the shade and shape of your tooth.
Why Choose Veneers?
Porcelain veneers offer patients a powerful cosmetic solution because they can often accomplish the work of several other treatments. We often suggest veneers for patients who wish to improve one or more of the following:
- Small cracks
- Small chips
- Uneven tooth length
- Awkward or unsightly tooth shape or length
- Discolored teeth, particularly those that respond poorly to teeth whitening
- Small spaces between teeth – veneers can fill the spaces without the need for orthodontics
About Your Treatment
You will need to visit us as few as two times to achieve your improved smile. During your initial visit, we will take impressions of your teeth. During your follow-up, we may need to prep your teeth if you require dramatic improvement. To ensure the best fit, your dentist may polish away a very small portion of your tooth’s outermost layer, called enamel. Then, we will bond the veneers to your teeth for permanent fit.
Qualifying for Veneers
You may only select veneers for natural teeth. For severe tooth damage, your dentist may suggest more advanced treatment such as dental crowns. Or, you may need to undergo restorative care to treat unhealthy teeth before undergoing the placement of veneers.
