Orthodontic Solutions to Misalignment

If you have teeth that are crowded or overlap, then you know how misalignment can impact your appearance. You may not be aware, however, that uneven teeth can also pose a risk to your oral health. In order to avoid a higher risk of developing cavities, gum disease, TMJ disorder, or bruxism, consider orthodontic treatment. At the Dental Associates of Moreno Valley we offer a solution with braces.

How Do Braces Work?

This orthodontic system uses tension to reposition the teeth over the period of a year-and-a-half to two years. The doctor will first attach metal brackets to the front of the teeth and connect them with an arch wire. Periodically, the wires will be adjusted as the teeth are moved to more optimal placement.

What are the Benefits of Orthodontic Treatment?

Braces can address both minor and severe malocclusion, correcting a number of issues related to misalignment. By addressing your alignment issues you reduce the risk of tooth decay and gum disease by removing places for bacteria and food particles to remain trapped. In addition, malocclusion can place pressure on one or both jaw joints, leading to the onset of TMJ disorder of frequent teeth grinding. A beautiful smile can also improve your confidence.

Do I Qualify?

We may recommend this procedure for most patients who have alignment issues. We will carefully exam your teeth and jaw using advanced technology, such as digital x-rays, to create an accurate picture of your current oral health. From there we can decide if braces or Invisalign clear aligners are the best choice for correcting your smile. If you have any questions we urge you to contact our office today.
