If You’re Brushing Too Hard

If you’re going a little overboard with the force, pressure, or speed at which you brush your teeth, then it may be no surprise if dental sensitivity surfaces, explains your Corona dentist. Your teeth are meant to be cleansed with a gentle touch. Otherwise, you’re aggravating your gums (which will then retreat, as your roots and nerves become exposed). Just go slowly and gently for two minutes and you’ll be just fine.

If You’re Going Overboard With Acidic Drinks

Acidic foods and drinks can soften the tissue layer that protects your teeth, which we call enamel. If it erodes too far as a result of acid (this is called acid erosion), your layers beneath become exposed or closer to the surface. They are full of nerves, which can leave teeth feeling sensitive. Your Corona dentist suggests drinking more water (and rinsing with it after something acidic) and speaking with us about ways to protect and strengthen your enamel.
